STONE PROPERTIES

A very brief summary gathered from various written materials and personal experience with the stones

Crystals have been used and revered by humans since the earliest recorded history. They are found in the early Mayan, Aztec, American Indian, African Native, and Celtic civilizations. The Christian Bible refers to crystals over 200 times. Precious stones of crystalline formation were used in the foundation of the New Jerusalem. They were also used in the breastplate of Aaron, the Hebrew high priest: a total of 27 from the various translations. In the ruins of Babylonia and in the ancient tombs of Egyptian and Chinese rulers, sacred stones have been located.

Each crystalline structure has its own individual energy. When minerals are used in combination, the energies of the minerals are enhanced. The energies of the mineral kingdom are “universal energies” and the use of the minerals treated by Reiki further stimulates the blending of ones personal energy with that of the mineral kingdom.

The stones are selected by a beekeeper and Reiki Master, calling upon the energies of health and well-being for the benefit of all beings.

Adventurine (green) - Considered by many to be the best all-purpose healing stone, especially good for soothing the emotions and for creating a feeling of balance and well-being. Quartz family, a heart protector and healer, aids pain relief, relaxation & sleep; Frees from anxiety, easing stress and nerves

Agate (wide range of colors)- Protection from a range of negative energies; provides courage, stimulating the self and allowing one’s natural abilities to come forward; happiness; supports the physical & emotional bodies; assists with balancing the masculine & feminine energies within the self; helps with self-confidence and creating an environment of protection and warmth.

Amazonite (light blue) – Balance; dispels negative energy; clarity. Feldspar family

Amber (golden pale to dark)– Good luck; dispels negative energy; cleansing.

Amethyst (light to dark purple) - From the Quartz family, the stone of spirituality and contentment; for overstress, overwork, overwhelm; helpful for addictions and nightmares; aids in balancing brain function; calms the mind, enabling us to know the peace which lies beyond constant mental activity; helps one accept the passage of death.

Azurite (dark blue): Stone of Heaven Helps us let go of old beliefs which cause physical and mental pain. Brings our subconscious thoughts into conscious awareness so that we can examine and, if necessary, change these thought patterns. Enhances creativity, mellows the intellect with love and stimulates compassion.

Carnelian (pale peach to dark rusty orange)– Heals sorrow; protects against envy, fear & rage. Stabilizes energy while increasing physical energy, personal power, creativity and compassion.

Chalcedony (wide range of colors)– Balance; generosity; growth; alleviates hostilities, melancholy & irritability.

Chrysocolla (pale to dark blues and greens)- Creates a feeling of peace and balance; gives comfort to the heart and mind, and self-confidence in personal expression. In healing, helping one to attune to the perfection of the universe and facilitating re-alignment with health.

Chrysoprase (pale to medium greens)– Loving, healing energy; it balances the yin-yang energies and aligns the chakras with the etheric plane. Lifts the emotions, and releases tension and stress. Aids success in new enterprises

Citrine (pale yellow to golden to dark amber)– Promotes wealth, comfort, optimism. Dissipates and transmutes negative energy, working-out problems on physical and subtle levels; enhances the physical body, clearing the aura and aligning it with the physical

Copper – Optimism; independence; luck.

Coral (pale pink, oranges, dark red)– Protection; attainment of goals; peace, wisdom.

Feldspar – Detaching from the old; goal attainment; self-awareness; self-love; intuition. Stones in the Feldspar family include Amazonite, Labradorite, Moonstone, and Sunstone.

Fluorite (pale to dark purples, blues, greens, yellows)– Stability; objectivity; concentration; order. An all-round healer helps to stimulate energetic repair and purification of the aura, provides balance and calm. Aids in stabilizing brain chemistry. Promotes ones ‘free spirit’. Helps with emotional stability and peacefulness, learning and understanding.

Garnet (dark red) – Commitment; health; creativity, balance.

Goldstone (sparkling orangey gold)– Purity; Understanding; optimism; independence.

Hematite (silvery dark grey)- A grounding and protective stone which helps with self-esteem; provides a strong feeling of stability and relaxation; time slows, our earth connection is strengthened and we become at ease and tranquil; a shielding stone, aids in setting up emotional boundaries.

Iolite (dark transparent blue) – Elimination of debt; harmony in relationships.

Jade (ranges from pale to dark greens, yellows, pinks) - A Mayan ritual stone, enabling realization of one’s potential. Protecting, soothing and calming; good for balanced growth. Helps with connecting to the inner child. Facilitates peace and healing.

Jasper (wide range of colors)– Joy; protection; balance, supreme nurturer; helps to stabilize all aspects of the being; a stress-reliever which connects us to our inner strength and flow. Aids stamina and enables us to endure energy draining situations. Promotes general health. Worn by healers in ancient times

Kunzite (pale pink and sometimes yellow)– Peace; love; centering; stimulates sensitivity & sensuality; protection from negative influences; wisdom.

Labradorite ( blues, greens, greys; white known as Spectrolite) –Intuition; strength; perseverance; a stone which aids with transformation, linked to alchemy and a favorite of the magician. Empowering and linked with the goddess. Helps one to reflect and see the truth.

Lepidolite (pink to silvery lavender with flecks of mica)– Stone of transition; reduces stress, alleviates despondency and is refreshing, calming; encourages self-love and trust to flourish.

Malachite (green with black patterns) -Stone of transformation. Helps to clear repressed emotions; balances left/right brains; for creativity and change. Helpful with clearing all the chakras, resonates with the heart, empowering the self to be responsible for their actions. Gives your life a boost promoting imagination and decision making abilities.

Malachite/Azurite - In addition to the individual properties of Azurite and Malachite, the combination calms the anxiety which may accompany physical distress so that healing can take place. Promotes reconstruction during the transformational process.

Moonstone (pale peach to creamy white) – Promotes “new beginnings”; intuition; insight; energy balancing and tension release; calmness coupled with awareness; protection against perils of travel.

Moss Agate (transparent with green inclusions)- Assists in creating peace of mind so that reason and intuition can be blended; enhances earth connection

Onyx- (black) Strengthens those following their path, increases sense of self and responsibility, helps to center and relieve grief

Opal (varieties of black, grey, pink, blue)– Amplification of natural abilities; stone of happy dreams and changes; stimulates a gentle vitality; purification

Pearl (Mother of Pearl) ( multiple colors)– Faith; charity; innocence; enhances personal integrity; compassion; purity.

Peridot (yellow green)– Protection; growth; delight in life; growth and understanding, especially in times of change; a healing stone.

Pyrite (gold)– A major protective shield; healing. Can help to find the 'answers' during conflict.

Quartz– Clarity of thinking, harmony; balance; creativity; calmness; spiritual development; healing. Amplification of other gemstones properties; helps to dispel static electricity, strengthens the auric field. used extensively by ancient civilizations for general health and development; has a strengthening and enhancing effect on perception, memory, clairvoyance, confidence. Quartz family members include clear quartz, smoky quartz, rose quartz, adventurine, citrine, amethyst, as well as a host of special formations, such as rutilated and tourmalated quartz.

Rhodochrosite (coral pink)- A heart centered stone helping with balance of the heart and emotions, strongly promoting love in every thing we do both emotionally and physically. Can make you feel 'upbeat'

Rhodonite (pink with black) – the stone of love, helping one achieve one’s highest potential, dispelling anxiety, and balancing the yin-yang energies. Excellent for stimulating, clearing and activating the heart charka, while grounding physical and mental energies.

Rose Quartz (pale to dark pink)- Teaches us to love ourselves, thus opening us up to universal love; heals emotional wounds and gives comfort; helps us to overcome grief.

Sodalite (dark blue with white and black)- Clears the mind of emotional confusion so that rational thinking can occur; very good for people who tend to be highly sensitive as it is grounding.

Smokey Quartz (translucent brown) – gently dissolves negative energies and emotional blockages; eases a worried mind; enhances stability in physical and etheric bodies; promotes joy in living.

Tanzanite (dark blue)– Communication; protection and safety; personal power; self-actualization.

Tiger Eye (golden)- Combats the stresses of life and external influences, protects aura; teaches patience, focus, and concentration; helps us develop the will to materialize our dreams.

Turquoise (blues, greens)– Master healer; strength; cleansing and healing; protection; grounding; peacefulness. Helps to make our desires clear to us, and assists us in expressing them to others who may be able to help us materialize them

Unakite (green with pink) – Rebirth & growth. Has a balancing and stabilizing effect. Helps us to discover the roots of illness.

Zoisite (green with red - ruby inclusions) – Healing; awareness; communication.
